READ is founded
Dr. READ Selvam and a group of social workers register READ (Reg. 159/94) to serve Andimadam’s poorest families.
Education & SHGs take root
Schools open and the first women’s self-help groups begin saving and lending — our earliest published annual report.
A regional movement
591 self-help groups, 825 women micro-financed, 247 children sponsored with Sahaya International, and the 147-member Malarum Mottukal HIV/AIDS network.
Resilience through crisis
READ sustains education, relief and health work through the pandemic, publishing a fresh strategy plan for the decade ahead.
